I love candles. I love the glow. I love the scent. I love the ambient atmosphere it creates. I love how well they go together with the journals, pens, and books scattered around me on my bed late into the night. Most of my nights consist of these elements creating, in the natural, the sanctuary-like environment.
I can’t believe that it’s already April. I’m thankful, excited, and nervous about how quickly time seems to be passing. So much is happening – so fast, in order – still happening.
I got the book “Face to Face with God” by Bill Johnson for my birthday. Ever since then I’ve been meticulously poring over each page, trying to take in and utilize all of the wisdom and perspectives that this man offers, as I go from chapter to chapter. Only a few chapters into this book, each page is marked up with lines, notes, prayers, and areas of application. It’s been exciting to see how this book awakens, articulates, and collaborates with what God has been stirring in me over the last couple of years.
“I cannot live in mediocrity, content with merely knowing there is more of God to experience and explore and then do nothing about it” – Bill Johnson
The hungry will be filled. Filled with good things.
“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. “I will be found by you” says the Lord” – Jeremiah 29: 13,14
Those who seek wholeheartedly will find an abundance of treasures encompassed in the name of Love. Let us not miss out by choosing apathy and indifference.
We must not just be content with the concept of knowing and experiencing God. We must desire genuine experience to experience. Encountering the Living God must not be a far-off concept but a reality we desire when we truly believe and hold fast to the promises of God. He will encounter those who wish to encounter Him.
The Holy Spirit lives in every believer, but He only rests on the faithful few.
I want to be one of the faithful few.
God is omniscient; having all knowledge. In the way that the hottest flame penetrates metal, so do the fiery eyes of Jesus penetrate our hearts. Behind the scenes, below the surface, He sees the heart of all matters. There is no created being that is hidden from God’s sight or that is out of His scope of control, authority, and knowledge. All things are open and naked to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account.
Many people live disconnected from this reality – that God sees all. But the fear of the Lord is an understanding that everything we do is before His eyes. This is not just a truth that discourages us from doing wrong, it’s an empowering truth that shows our true intentions in our actions. This truth makes the righteous very happy and the wicked very mad, but if your heart is set to love Him, this is a powerful, reassuring reality.
He sees us in the small things. He takes careful notice of everything. Each day holds opportunities to prove ourselves faithful lovers of Jesus, or faithful lovers of ourselves and this world. Each opportunity is a test. Each test is a part of the process and progression. A test, a test, a test…one after the other holds the answer to the bottom-line desire of our heart.
In these tests we’ll answer to whether or not we can be trustworthy with the presence of God. Can we really handle the anointing? What have we done with the measure of His presence that we’ve already been given? I want to be one of the faithful few, counted worthy to be entrusted to manifest God’s presence in the Earth.
A human vessel.
I’ve always loved the story in Exodus where Moses is getting ready to walk into the Promised Land, and he tells the Lord, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anybody know that you look favorably on me – on me and on your people – if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on earth.”
Yes, Your presence sets us apart.
His presence going with us is what makes an impossible vision, possible. Most dreams go unfulfilled because they lack favor with God and man. We must dream with the heart, so big that without the favor and anointing of God, we could never accomplish those things.
We dream for the glory of God to be increased in the Earth; for Him to be exalted in every heart above all other things.
God’s favor comes with a purpose. Catch the vision. Why do we have such favor in our work, music, family, etc.? We must put the favor we’ve already received from God to work in our lives in order to bring increase. We must seek to understand the nature and power of God’s favor if we are going to operate in it successfully. We all have an opportunity to increase in favor. If only we would be faithful with the favor and influence we already have for the glory of God. God, in His wisdom, will give us only what we can handle. It’s a process, but the primary vision is always faithfulness.
In the areas of man, I think of our spheres of influence we’ve already been given. How are we being faithful in those areas concerning other people? How are we saturating these areas and atmospheres with the love and leadership of Jesus? What do we do with these influential opportunities? Do we even recognize them? What is the will of God and purpose for us and others in this area? Our hearts so long to co-labor with God in the Earth, expressing an aspect of His nature in a way that no one else can. Jesus, do what only You can do.
In the areas of God and growing intimately with Him, I wonder if we’re being faithful with the things He already has entrusted to us? Are we even living a life that cultivates our hearts to be trusted vessels of the power and love of Jesus? I think of prophetic revelation, discernment, and dreams that we desire. How are we being faithful with the revelation, discernment, and dreams in the measure that we’ve already received? Can we really be trusted with the anointing?
He has so much more in store for us than we can even imagine. He will grow us, if only we would just yeild ourselves to Him.
