Last night at The House Jayme talked about how so many of us have “Aliases”, identities that aren’t really who we are after the Spirit, but it’s this identity, this other side of us that seems to come out when we agree with lies that others have put on us.
He talked about the importance of releasing MERCY to people which sets them free from those “names” that have been put on them. These names carry this weight that keeps them in their current situation or identity. It isn’t until the MERCY and COMPASSIONATE GRACE and KINDNESS of GOD is extended to these people that we see FEEDOM COME and the Lord TRANSFORMS.
How many of us WANT to change, want to grow, want to live free under the name that Heaven is calling us, but we have people around us in our life that are holding us accountable and responsible to the identity that Heaven wants us free from?
MERCY RELEASES US from the identity that is not from the Father.
LOVE DOES NOT DEMAND.
It bears all things, believes all things, and hopes all things.
Love is kind, compassionate, and gracious.
Love is seen in the undeniable MERCY of GOD that we encounter every day.
HOW COULD WE NOT EXTEND THAT MERCY TO OTHERS IN EVERY AREA OF THEIR LIFE?
We are not here to release JUDGEMENT and DEMAND that the wrong things be made right, but we are here to release MERCY and FREEDOM.
SET THE CAPTIVES FREE!
Bind up and HEAL the BROKENHEARTED, release (physical and spiritual) LIBERTY to the captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound.
It’s the revelation of the MERCY of God in your own heart that allows you to forgive the sins of others (even if they aren’t asking for forgiveness) that sets them free from the weight of sin on their life and enables them to be SENSITIVE and FREE to TRANSFORM.
“But love and be kind and do good [doing favors so that someone derives benefit from them] and lend, expecting and hoping for nothing in return but considering nothing as lostand despairing of no one; and then your recompense (your reward) will be great (rich, strong, intense, and abundant), and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind and charitable and good to the ungrateful and the selfish and wicked. So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is [all these]. Judge not [neither pronouncing judgment nor subjecting to censure], and you will not be judged; do not condemn and pronounce guilty, and you will not be condemned and pronounced guilty;acquit and forgive and release (give up resentment, let it drop), and you will be acquitted and forgiven and released. Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you.
He further told them a proverb: Can a blind [man] guide and direct a blind [man]? Will they not both stumble into a ditch or a hole in the ground? A pupil is not superior to his teacher, but everyone [when he is] completely trained (readjusted, restored, set to rights, and perfected) will be like his teacher. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye but do not notice or consider the beam [of timber] that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Brother, allow me to take out the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not see the beam that is in your own eye? You actor (pretender, hypocrite)! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.”
“So then [God’s gift] is not a question of human will and human effort, but of God’s mercy. [It depends not on one’s own willingness nor on his strenuous exertion as in running a race, but on God’s having mercy on him.]”
“May MERCY, (soul) PEACE, and LOVE be MULTIPLIED to you.”
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and loving-kindness.He will not always chide or be contending, neither will He keep His anger forever or hold a grudge. He has not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great are His mercy and loving-kindness toward those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves andpities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe]. For He knows our frame, He [earnestly] remembers and imprints [on His heart] that we are dust.”
DO YOU SEE THE GRACE?
THE FREEDOM TO BE; TO LOVE AND GROW IN GOD.
“The merciful, kind, and generous man benefits himself [for his deeds return to bless him], but he who is cruel and callous [to the wants of others; selfish, demanding and set in his own ways and expectations] brings on himself retribution.”
“By mercy and love, truth and fidelity [to God and man–not by sacrificial offerings], iniquity is purged out of the heart, and by the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord men depart from andavoid evil.”
It’s that merciful, long-suffering, persevering, patient, compassionate, gracious, LOVE that overlooks wrongs and believes (bears and hopes) ALL THINGS GOOD.
THIS IS THE WAY that we see each other after the spirit, THIS IS THE WAY,MERCY, that we are patient and faithful with each other in our weakness.
All of us, with logs in our eyes, specks in our hearts, and issues to tend to that are strategically engineered to be opportunities to teach us to GROW in LOVE. We’re running after the heart of the Father in ALL THINGS, hungry for wisdom, understanding, and that CONSTANT RESTORATION that will forever be taking place in our lives as we are transformed from glory to glory into the image of His Son Jesus.
MERCY IS THE WAY.
Thank God that He didn’t abandon you in the light of your issues, weakness, and failures, expecting that you go your own way, make yourself right, and then return to be loved.
He is so much better than that.
He is so much more gracious, and loving, and kind than that.
At the end of the service last night, we all prayed and repented for the areas of our life where we had agreed with lies or an identity that was not from the Father; an area that has kept us in bondage and under the weight of hurt, insecurity, and shame. I broke agreement with the lie that’s been rooted in me from childhood on that I’m too much, that I’m too hard to love, that I have too many issues to be loved WELL and RIGHTLY.
Jayme released the MERCY, the FREEDOM of God, to the areas that we’ve repented from, the areas that have kept us “stuck” and it was like you could literally feel a fresh wind blow through the house; like a weight had been lifted.
I’ll never forget breathing a sigh of relief as my whole body recognized the peace, confidence, and JOY that rushed in with this release and revelation of MERCY and as I inhale again I hear the Holy Spirit whisper, “Hard-to-love, that’s no longer your name.”
I’m crying again through bubbles of laughter rising up in me as I remember that moment…
Mercy IS the name of God, and the fierce reality of that revelation in this season, has been SO good for my aching, striving, accomplishment-driven, perfectionist heart that seeks to PROVE my worth, PROVE my love, PROVE my value.
HE IS SO KIND.
HE IS SO PATIENT TO CHOOSE LOVE.
And I am so thankful…
I’ve been singing and drinking coffee at my keyboard for literally the last four hours in my living room. I feel hidden away in the light of an absent thunderstorm that came and went, leaving everything gray and still. This sweet house holds the songs and prayers of heaven and an atmosphere of grace and encounter.
Over and over I sang to the Father’s Heart this phrase that I KNOW He is singing back to me:
“I get to love you through whatever comes
What a privilege it is.
I get to love you through whatever comes
Oh, how sweet it is.”
Nothing’s gonna take your praise out of my mouth as long as I shall live…
I will not die, I will live, and I will tell of the works of the Lord; I will sing of His wonders.
THIS (mercy) is love.
